CARES TIRC Program

CARES TIRC Program

RESTORE PEOPLE and RECLAIM LIVES with CARES TIRC. Empowering Children to Rise Above Trauma.

Traumatic experiences can have a lasting impact on children, hindering their emotional well-being, academic progress, and overall quality of life. At CARES Trauma Incident Reduction Children (TIRC), we recognise the profound effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) and strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where healing can take place.

CARES TIRC program focuses on understanding and addressing the flight, fight, freeze, and fawn responses children often exhibit when faced with trauma. We aim to provide a holistic approach to healing, acknowledging the emotional and psychological aspects and the physical and neurological impacts. It's important to remember that these behaviours can vary among children and may manifest differently based on their experiences and coping strategies.

Children in fight mode may display aggressive behaviours such as hitting, biting, or yelling. They may struggle to control their emotions and engage in power struggles with peers and adults. They may be aggressive and argumentative when relating to peers and struggle to share or take turns. With adults, they may challenge authority, resist instructions, or become defiant.

Children in flight mode may exhibit avoidant behaviours such as withdrawing, isolating themselves, or trying to escape. They may avoid social interactions, prefer to be alone, and may struggle with forming friendships. When relating to peers, they may be shy, hesitant, or fearful of socialising. With adults, they may be reluctant to ask for help, have difficulty trusting adults, and may be wary of forming connections.

Children in freeze mode may show signs of shutdown, withdrawn, unresponsive, or emotionally numb. They may become passive and compliant and may struggle with making decisions. When relating to peers, they may appear distant, disengaged, or uninterested in social interactions. With adults, they may be compliant, seek reassurance, and may rely on adults to make decisions for them.

Children in fawn mode may exhibit people-pleasing behaviours, seeking validation and approval from others. They may be overly compliant and submissive and may struggle with setting boundaries. They may seek acceptance and approval when relating to peers, often neglecting their needs to maintain social connections. With adults, they may have difficulty expressing their own opinions, prioritise others' needs over their own, and may excessively seek adult guidance and reassurance.

One of the ways trauma manifests in children is through Non-Epileptic Seizures (NES). These seizures directly result from unresolved trauma and can further exacerbate children's difficulties. By addressing the underlying trauma, we strive to reduce NES occurrence and bring relief to affected children.

Furthermore, the stress of traumatic experiences can negatively impact a child's ability to learn and make academic progress in school. Our CARES TIRC program aims to restore balance, resilience, and self-regulation skills, helping children regain control over their emotions and improve their educational journey. For children displaying symptoms of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), our CARES TIRC program offers significant benefits. By addressing the root causes of their challenges through trauma reduction techniques, we create an environment where these children can thrive, finding focus, attention, and enhanced self-control.

At CARES TIRC, we believe in involving parents in the healing process. We understand that parents play a critical role in supporting their children's recovery and growth. That's why our program includes compulsory parent meetings, where we provide guidance, education, and tools to facilitate the healing journey together. To help them overcome adversity and build a bright future.

Here's what you can expect when you choose Trauma Incident Reduction for your child:

Individualised Approach: We recognise that each child's experiences are unique and tailor our approach to meet their needs. As a TIRC facilitator, I work closely with your child to understand their trauma history and create a personalised treatment plan.

Safe and Supportive Environment: I prioritise creating a safe and supportive environment where your child can feel comfortable sharing their feelings and experiences. As TIRC Facilitator, I am trained in Applied Metapsychology and utilise Trauma Incident Reduction Techniques for children to ensure your child's well-being.
Trauma sessions: I facilitate your child's traumatic incidents through structured sessions. This may also involve using creative art therapy. I aim to reduce the emotional intensity and promote healing by doing so.

Life Coaching: I also teach your child effective coping strategies and skills to manage emotions and navigate challenging situations. This may include teaching relaxation techniques, communication skills, and problem-solving strategies, empowering them to build resilience and improve their overall well-being.

Family Involvement: I understand the importance of involving the family in healing. I work closely with parents and caregivers to provide support, education, and guidance on best supporting your child's recovery at home. I believe that a robust support system is crucial for the long-term success of the treatment.

Trauma Incident Reduction Children can make a significant difference in your child's life, helping them heal from past traumas and build a brighter future. Don't let adverse childhood experiences define your child's path. Reach out to and join us as we empower children to overcome trauma, rebuild their lives, and flourish in a brighter future.
