Exploring identity, calling and purposeful living

What is Destiny by Design

Destiny by Design is a Christian life-enrichment seminar for young adults, presented through churches and youth groups. It offers structured opportunities to explore identity, life experiences, gifts, and calling.

The seminar gives you space to consider what matters to you, what has shaped your life, and how you might express your faith and abilities in everyday choices. You do not need to arrive with a clearly defined calling. Questions, uncertainty and possibilities can all form part of the journey.

What the seminar offers

The programme combines teaching with interactive exercises, personal reflection and workbook activities. Presentations and selected video material support exploration of six connected themes: Dreams, Experiences, Soulprint, Identity, Gifts and Network.

The emphasis is on connecting reflection with life: recognising what you bring, considering possible directions and identifying what you would like to explore further. The seminar is offered to groups, rather than as individual coaching.

Who may attend

Destiny by Design is intended for young adults who want to enrich and develop their lives, including those who feel unsettled in their present circumstances or are questioning their direction. It may be relevant to participants who want to:

  • Explore their sense of calling.

  • Understand interests, motivations and strengths more clearly.

  • Reflect on life experiences and their present significance.

  • Consider identity from a Christian perspective.

  • Explore how gifts could serve others.

  • Think about a new direction or season of life.

  • Develop language for conversations about purpose and calling.

Churches and youth groups can enquire about suitability for their participants and the practical arrangements for hosting.

The Christian foundation

Destiny by Design approaches purpose and calling through a Christian understanding of life and identity. Biblical reflection connects with everyday experiences, relationships, and choices.

Participants are invited to consider how their interests, abilities and opportunities may inform a meaningful direction. The seminar offers space for exploration rather than requiring everyone to reach a definite answer or make a major life decision.

Dreams

Explore your passions, interests, desires and hopes. This theme invites you to consider what captures your interest, what engages you, and what you would like to understand or pursue further.

Experiences

Reflect on significant experiences and what you recognise in them now. There is room to acknowledge both positive and difficult experiences without requiring you to explain every event or disclose private details.

The Christian framework invites reflection on how your story may inform the way forward, while leaving room for questions that remain unanswered.

Soulprint

Explore personality preferences and the ways you tend to engage with people, responsibilities and opportunities. A personality inventory provides a starting point for reflection. It does not determine your calling or restrict what you can become.

Identity

Consider your understanding of yourself, including the roles, expectations and experiences that influence it. Christian reflection offers space to explore identity, worth and belonging alongside your own questions.

Gifts

Explore gifts you recognise in your life, as well as those you may feel you have not received, within the programme’s Christian understanding of design.

A motivational gifts inventory provides a starting point for reflection on your motivations and contribution. The conversation can include how your gifts may find expression in meaningful activity and service.

Network

This theme explores the Christian understanding that we are created for connection. Participants consider how relationships, cooperation and shared gifts can support service and multiply their contribution.

There is room to recognise people and communities you can learn from, sources of support and ways you may contribute to others.

Bringing the themes together

In the closing section, participants bring the six themes together. The invitation is to notice patterns that may help them understand their individual design and consider meaningful directions for further exploration.

You may recognise a possible direction, identify something to investigate or leave with questions that need more time. Participation does not require a finished life plan.

What to expect

The teaching introduces the themes, followed by opportunities to reflect and take part in relevant exercises. A workbook supports the exploration, helping you gather observations and revisit questions. Discussion and activities connect the material with your own circumstances.

The full seminar allows extended engagement with the material. For a shortened weekend seminar, the scope and schedule are agreed with the hosting church or youth group in advance.

What we are working towards

The aims may include:

  • Greater awareness of interests, motivations and personal priorities.

  • A more thoughtful understanding of life experiences.

  • Reflection on identity and calling.

  • Recognition of gifts, supportive relationships and opportunities.

  • Practical questions or next steps to explore.

  • Greater confidence in discussing purpose.

These are aims rather than guaranteed outcomes. The seminar does not promise to identify a single predetermined career or calling for every participant.

Programme scope

Destiny by Design is a Christian educational and life-enrichment seminar. It does not replace trauma counselling, clinical assessment or specialist career advice. If further support is needed, we can discuss suitable options.

Seminar arrangements

Destiny by Design is a group seminar for young adults, hosted through a church or youth group. It is not offered individually.

The full seminar comprises 40 hours. A shortened version can be presented over a weekend, with the scope and schedule agreed with the hosting organisation.

Presentation and workbooks are available in English and Afrikaans. Practical hosting arrangements are discussed during the initial enquiry.

Hosting enquiries and pricing

Churches and youth groups can enquire by email or WhatsApp chat to discuss hosting arrangements, language and scheduling. Current pricing is available through the WhatsApp Catalogue.
