LovePatch Trauma Counselling

LovePatch Trauma Counselling

Unlock your past. Reclaim your presence.

What is LovePatch

LovePatch represents compassionate care for an emotional wound. Just as a plaster protects a physical wound while it heals, the LovePatch symbol reflects the care, patience, and support painful experiences deserve.

Your experiences form part of your story. LovePatch offers a respectful space to explore their meaning and impact, without being judged, rushed or expected to have all the answers.

At its heart is a hopeful invitation: you do not have to erase your past to reclaim your presence.

What this service offers

LovePatch Trauma Counselling offers personalised, one-to-one support for people who want to explore difficult experiences and how those experiences may still affect their lives.

Sometimes we can describe what happened, yet struggle to understand its continuing influence on our emotions, relationships, choices or sense of self. At other times, we know something feels unresolved but struggle to put it into words.

LovePatch offers an opportunity to approach these concerns with care, build greater understanding, and work towards being more present in everyday life.

Who it is for

This service may be relevant to individuals seeking support around:

  • A single overwhelming or distressing event.

  • Repeated painful experiences.

  • Difficult childhood experiences.

  • Violence or abuse.

  • Loss and grief.

  • Witnessing distressing events.

  • Past experiences that continue to affect relationships or daily life.

You do not need to arrive with a complete explanation of your experience. An initial conversation provides an opportunity to discuss your needs and consider whether this service is an appropriate fit.

The foundation of LovePatch

LovePatch is grounded in a Christian worldview. Its central imagery draws on Colossians 3: taking off, putting on, and above all, putting on love.

Within LovePatch, this offers a framework for reflecting on familiar patterns and considering new ways of responding, relating and living. The invitation is to recognise what has shaped you and explore what you would like to carry forward.

Compassion remains central to this process. We approach painful experiences and protective responses with understanding, without assigning blame for what happened to you.

How the approach works

LovePatch draws on Applied Metapsychology and, where appropriate, incorporates Trauma Incident Reduction (TIR) as a structured facilitation method.

TIR provides a structured process for viewing and exploring a distressing experience and its unresolved impact. The facilitator guides the process without supplying interpretations or telling you what you should think, feel or discover.

Your own experience and understanding remain central. The work creates room to notice what emerges, express what matters and develop your own insights.

The suitability of this approach, what it involves and any questions you have should be discussed before proceeding.

What to expect from a session

Sessions offer focused, individual attention to your concerns. We start by understanding what brought you to counselling and what you hope to address.

Depending on your needs and the agreed approach, the work may include exploring a difficult experience, noticing its present-day impact or participating in structured TIR facilitation.

You are encouraged to ask questions and communicate concerns throughout the process. The pace and session arrangements are discussed with you, recognising that each person brings a different history, set of needs and circumstances.

What we are working towards

The aims of LovePatch may include:

  • Greater understanding of difficult experiences and their meaning for you.

  • Increased awareness of patterns affecting your present life.

  • A greater sense of choice in how you respond and relate.

  • Reduced distress associated with the experiences being explored.

  • Greater presence and participation in everyday life.

These are aims of the work, rather than promised outcomes. Experiences and progress differ from person to person.
