Grace for yesterday. Peace for today.
What is Menuha
Menuha offers gentle, identity-based life coaching for adults over 65 who are experiencing regret, loneliness, loss or major life changes.
The name is drawn from the Hebrew concept of rest and settling. This Programme creates space for stillness, belonging, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
A journey home is a perfect opportunity to reflect on your life, consider what you're carrying, and think about who you are in the broadest sense, beyond your roles, achievements, disappointments, and everything you've done and not done in the past.
What this service offers
Menuha provides a respectful space for contemplative discussion of the experiences and questions that are important to you in later life.
You may find yourself revisiting decisions, grieving a relationship, adjusting to changed circumstances, or wondering where you belong. You may want someone to listen to meaningful memories, including those that are hard to share.
The work offers opportunities to explore your understanding, recognise enduring strengths, and consider what brings connection and meaning to your life today. You do not need to arrive with a clear goal or a complete account of your story.
Who it is for
Menuha is intended for adults aged 65 and older who would value support around:
-
Regret, guilt or recurring thoughts of “if only”.
-
Loneliness or a loss of meaningful connection.
-
Bereavement and other significant changes.
-
Changing roles, responsibilities or independence.
-
Questions about identity and personal worth.
-
Self-forgiveness and a gentler view of their life story.
-
Meaning, belonging and personal faith.
These are possible starting points. Your priorities and readiness guide the conversation.
The foundation of Menuha
Menuha draws on a gentle biblical foundation of rest, grace and belonging within God’s care. It makes room to explore worth beyond productivity, usefulness, or others' approval.
Your life is approached with dignity, including the parts that feel unfinished or difficult to understand. Faith can form part of the conversation without requiring you to arrive with certainty or particular answers. There is space for questions, grief and reflection.
Looking back with compassion
Looking back may bring gratitude, sorrow, unanswered questions or regret. Menuha offers room to explore these experiences without reducing your life to its most painful moments.
Self-forgiveness can be considered alongside responsibility, the circumstances surrounding past choices, and what remains possible now. It is not imposed as an expectation or treated as something you must achieve within a set time.
Where you wish, the conversation can include what you would like to acknowledge, express, remember, or approach differently.
Identity beyond changing roles
Later-life changes can prompt questions about who you are when familiar roles or routines shift. Menuha invites reflection on the qualities, values, relationships and experiences that remain meaningful to you.
It also creates space for interests, hopes, or choices that merit attention now. Your understanding of yourself guides the focus. The facilitator does not assign a meaning to your story or decide what your next chapter should look like.
Connection and belonging
Menuha provides space to speak about loneliness and the kind of connection you miss or would value. Together, we can explore what belonging means to you, which relationships or activities matter and what manageable opportunities for connection may be available.
There is no expectation that being busy or surrounded by people is the answer. Your own needs, energy and circumstances remain central.
What to expect from a session
We begin with what you would like to bring to the conversation. Sessions may include memories, current concerns, questions about identity, or reflections on faith and meaning. You can speak at your own pace, pause, or leave a subject for another time.
Where helpful, you may identify a small next step, a personal reflection, or something you would like to revisit. A session can also provide meaningful space to be heard without requiring an immediate decision.
What we are working towards
Depending on your needs, the aims may include:
-
A more compassionate understanding of your life story.
-
Greater awareness of self-blame and the questions beneath it.
-
Recognition of personal worth and enduring strengths.
-
Space to explore self-forgiveness without pressure.
-
Clearer understanding of your needs for connection and belonging.
-
Meaningful choices within your present circumstances.
These are aims rather than guaranteed outcomes. Your pace and experience are respected throughout.
Programme scope
Menuha offers trauma-informed life coaching and reflective support. It does not replace trauma counselling, medical care or other specialist support when these are needed. If a concern requires a different form of care, we can discuss an appropriate next step.
Session arrangements
Menuha offers individual life-coaching sessions for adults aged 65 and older, available in person or online. Each session lasts 90 minutes, allowing time for unhurried conversation and reflection.
Scheduling and delivery arrangements are discussed during the initial enquiry.
